These swinging wooden wall works are based on the double pendulum, a simple physical system that generates unpredictable and chaotic results. Foucault used an enormous pendulum as a near perfect timing device to demonstrate the rotation of the earth in 1851. Here, chaotic pendulums are used to create something fluid and alive.
Some of the pendulums include beepers, which make simple electronic sounds timed to accompany their movements.
